I cannot believe it is the end of November already...soon it will be Christmas and a new year and I just barely got used to writing 2005 on my checks!!
We had a good Thanksgiving weekend...Gene had a few half days last week, so I was able to get some shopping done (the kids gifts were all bought and wrapped before Thanksgiving), get packages sent and Christmas cards labeled....whew! He had to spend one day getting a flu shot and going to the dentist, so was not all fun for him.
Bob and family and Bennett all visited during the holiday. For the actual Thanksgiving feast it was just Gene and I and the kids. We had to tell Jake the turkey was chicken so he would eat it. He actually loved the cranberry jello salad...I was surprised. He has hit a burst of language improvement. He's talking much better than even last month. Bob and Cheryl both commented on how much better he is doing. Spending time with him alone while the girls are at school has really helped. His favorite thing to say to me is: "not you, I do it by myself"...getting dressed, putting shoes and socks on, playing whatever, he wants me to sit there with him, but he wants to do it all by himself.
Emily is still doing gymnastics and is behaving well this week since I told her she cannot say "no" to me or else there will be no Nutcracker ballet this weekend. Yesterday she was an angel. All I heard was "yes mam" from her....oh, music to my ears.
Tara is still really happy with school and actually had Daddy come to lunch with her last week to meet all her friends from school. She's taken a real interest in reading the library books we bring home....it's a very slow and painful process for mom, but she's coming along really well. her favorite so far is, of course,' Green eggs and ham.' What I've been amazed with is how much and how well she likes to draw. All three kids will sit down at the table and color for a long time and do such great work.
Cousin Carey and the girls painted Christmas ornaments while she was here...I need to buy christmas crafts in bulk for the holidays. We hope all of you are well.

Well, we have been distracted lately...was waiting to write til I had something good to say.
Joe and Diana had their baby boy yesterday Elijah John, welcome to the family...we are happy to see the Ribera name will live on another generation. Glad to hear mom and baby are fine....yeah everyone!
We've had bouts of fevers, coughs and colds of varying degrees the past 3 weeks but are all well now. Everyone is pretty happy most of the time and getting along fine. Gene has had a few afternoons free this week in preparation for Thanksgiving. He's going to cook the feast. His brothers Bennett and Bob are coming into town.
We have already put up the christmas tree and decor.....one excuse is I don't have any Thanksgiving decorations, another is I can't wait for the fun of Christmas. The girls and I are going to the Nutcracker ballet next weekend. We bought thier Christmas dresses already and so tried to take the Christmas card photo...we'll see if that's the one we want to use. It's so rare we get all three smiling at the same time. We are expecting our first snow Thurs. we'll let you know if it comes.

Well, this week has been a good one. I'll start with yesterday and work backwards.
The girls and I went to Olivia's (Chickie) birthday party. She turned 3, her mom was my visiting teacher for a while and they are such a fun family. She had a horse party...it was a blast. They had horses to ride, play horses to race, made sheriff badges and ate cake of course. Then the girls and I went shopping for Christmas dresses, jeans for Tara because she has a hole in every one of hers, and socks for Emily because she keeps loosing them. This is why I don't like the cold, I have to keep track of socks, dirty ones keep popping up in the weirdest places.
We left Gene and Jake home to rake leaves . We came home and ate pizza and watched Fever Pitch (Gene and I did, the kids watched their shows).
Friday night was the ward Chili cook-off and I must say that I won!!!! I went to the store in the morning and realized when I got home at about 3 pm that I forgot a few things...I was ready to just stay home and not make an entry, but Gene saved the day and stopped at the store, we got there in time and we won! We won a Sara Lee cheesecake. The kids did a pumpkin roll, face painting and leaf drawings....I must say the activities are getting a little more fun.
I had lunch with Tara at school on Friday. I took Jake and he was the star of the show. None of the kids could understand why he was disobeying EVERY lunchroom rule. EX: no crawling under the table , no eating off the floor, no standing on the stool and no running around the lunchroom! (He did however stay the whole time in nursery this week....the past two weeks they have sent him to me before sunday school was over.)
Thursday I helped in Tara's class...we painted indian vests...brown paper with hole cut in the top. I only helped 2 kids at a time and it was the most stressful hour I've experienced in a long time. Tara was great but the rest of the kids were crazy with the paint.
Gene got to go golfing this week with a coworker, but the rest of the week was pretty busy for him.
I have been working on scrapbooks all week. I went to a scrapbooking party the other day that really got me thinking about how behind I am on all my record keeping. So, we bought an 8ft. table at office max and the kids color while I scrapbook. It's been great.
