Tara's baptism and birthday
Tara turned 8 on Friday. Jacob and I surprised her at school with her lunch box...we told her she forgot it at home, and she was disappointed because she wanted to buy lunch on her birthday, but then she smelled it, and it was McDonalds happy meal. She was not disappointed. Then Gene surprised her by picking her up early from school and took her to see the new Veggie Tales movie, The pirates who don't do anything...we went too.
Then Bob and Cheryl Borden (and family)came up from North Carolina to be here for her baptism...so, they and the Bordens senior came for a bit of birthday cake and present time.
Saturday Tara was baptized. Thanks for everyone who came and participated. It was a great day. Thanks Kris for letting us use your outfit, thanks for the phone calls and cards and gifts. You all have been a great support and Tara was smiling all day. She really felt loved. She is excited to start activity days this Weds.
We went to Steak and Shake for dinner last night and it was a chilly 29. I don't know how the rest of you deal with cold.
We taught the kids how to play "spoons". Jacob is a real gamer...he loves playing games...we are working on letting others win and being happy about it.
I have been released as 1st counselor in the primary and called as 1st couns. in the primary. So, my job hasn't changed but, everyone else around me has.
Everyone is healthy and happy. Gene had a speaking assignment in Crossville today, 1 hour away. So, we are spending the day recovering from a busy weekend.
Keep warm, everyone!

Happy New Year
I have tried several times to make separate entries for Thanksgiving and Christmas. They have been unsuccesful, so here they are all lumped together.
We have had a great year in 2007. Gene is working for Siemens Medical and is traveling about 50%. He's been to Oxford, England, Chicago, Denver and Boston. We love to spend time with him when he's home.
Tara is turning 8 this month and will be baptized on the 19th. She is working very hard in 2nd grade. She's a great reader and is taking piano lessons from her grandma Borden.
Emily is our smily dancer. She loves giggling and making others happy. I see her with her friends in kindergarten and she loves everyone. She has a new best friend every day.
Jacob loves preschool and speech class. He is improving every day and has found a new love in Nintendo. Gene just introduced him to Mario and they are fast friends.
Angelina has been PTA VP this school year, and first counselor in the primary.
Carpooling and meetings have kept her busy.
Gene is in the high council over scouts and young men.
We look forward to a new year in 2008. Please keep in touch.
