First Snow Day of 2008

I know this is not much news for the rest of you but, today we had our first snow of the whole year. It was cold enough and wet enough. The biggest news is, school was not cancelled for it. Usually Knox county can't handle any snow.
The kids had a fun 20 min. outside and then came in to recover.
We had to share these pictures to prove that in 2008 we really did have snow.
The sad part is by noon, all the snow was melted.

Emily's birthday

Emily had a great birthday, no school due to illness. We took her to play at her best friends house (Ben) and she saw the movie Spiderwick. Totally fun, but totally scary. Even in the calm parts Tara said her legs would not stop shaking.
All Emily's Borden uncles came for the grandparents 50th wedding anniversary, and stopped by to visit for birthday cake and icecream. We are all well, hope you are too.

3 teeth gone, valentines day

Emily had a crazy week. She fell off the deck during the babyshower Saturday. She had 3 teeth taken out at the dentist. One was an extra permanent tooth and the other two were very loose and "in the way" as the dentist tried to get the one out. So, her tooth fairy was loaded down with luggage Weds. night. She fell asleep at 4:30 and didn't wake up til the next morning. Right as she got out of the car on the 14th , she tripped and hit her nose on the pavement and scraped her knees. She was a mess. The kids were all sick at some time this week. But, now seem to be doing better. They each had great parties at school for Valentines day.
I went to help out in Emily's class with reading. It was fun to have one on one time with all her little friends.
Gene was in Chicago and made it home in time, despite the 6 inches of snow, for Emily's "operation". We have him home for a couple of weeks now, we think.
Elder Chipman, area president, came to visit for our sacrament meeting yesterday. We had to shuffle things around with primary. But, all was well.
Did you all see the finale for American Gladiators? We went wild with excitement. All three kids have found their new love on tv.

New battery, 100th day ,goofy faces and a birthday

We survived a week, miracle filled week. I blew a fuse, but was able to fix it. A toilet clogged and then after much deliberation and a night to think about it, it just fixed itself. My battery in the van died at the car wash, where they had a jumper box/tester thingy.....and I was able to paint the whole front room and put the whole house in order before Gene got home Friday night. Luckily he was delayed 6 hours and didn't see the mess that would have been there had he been on time.
We celebrated Jake's birthday early because Gene left again this morning for Chicago.
Jacob had to watch as we sang happy birthday, he didn't feel like eating since he had a sore throat and 102 temp. Oh boy, birthdays to remember.
Sunday night he felt better and the kids were in a goofy mood and made some really funny faces.
I threw a baby shower for my friend Jenny on Saturday. I was surprised and happy to see that 22 people came and only 3 rsvp'd. Funny how that works.
The best part about painting was, I got to really clean out the room, cobwebs and all. I covered finger prints that were 3+ years old. and filled in teeth marks in the window sill where Emily used to stand and cry everytime Gene left for work when she was 3.
Tara was invited to an Olympic Reader party....the only one in her class, especially chosen to spend some time with Mrs. Oliver the principal. I guess she did the best reading in her class. She got icecream and everything.
Tara sang with the Activity day girls in church yesterday while the Nashville temple presidency was here visiting. She feels really special and grown up.
Emily celebrated her 100th day of school on Friday. I helped her class count out and glue 100 bears, 100 cars and 100 dinosaurs to a long scroll of paper.
We had fun.
Jacob was sick and stayed home from church, and now Tara is home today. The schools around us are closed today,because the flu is running rampant. Hopefully, we make it through unscathed.
