the summer light at the end of the school tunnel

The girls tried on last years bathing suits and were pleased to see they still fit. We can count how many days of school that are left on one hand.
It's all very exciting and frightening (for me)at the same time.

The rain held off on Monday long enough to have our new front door installed. The longer we looked at it primed white, the more we liked it...so, I ran back to Lowes to get white paint. Our only trouble was finding enough time to paint it (we only had 4 days after installation)with no rain.

Jacob had baseball pictures and a game on Tues. His games on Friday and the make up Saturday games were cancelled because of rain.
Tara had activity days where they talked about etiquette...it was her last day with her friend Breia who is moving back to Utah (Gene helped them load the moving truck that night until 12:45am...he spent the rest of the week trying to catch up on sleep). So, she didn't mind staying after YW with me while we cleaned the church. For the activity we played "Where's Waldo" at the mall with the bishopric hiding with disguises in different places and we had to race to find them. It was fun.

Oh yes, by the way, I have a new calling, YW 2nd Couns.

Jacob and Emily both had their field days this week. It was a morning of races and lots of fun. They really did well. Everyone who participated got a ribbon. They each chose 5 events to participate in. Jacob raced with the hoppity ball, the hurdles, the ring toss and the 50 yrd. dash (and something else I can't remember). Emily did hurdles, partner toss and the hula hoop. It was great to see them cheer for their classmates and just enjoy being outside and together with friends.

I think overall the kids have had a great school year. Their teachers have been fabulous. They are excited about reading and learning...hopefully we will keep that enthusiasum up during the long summer.
